Eclipse Iconography in South India 27 September @ Mythology Classroom

I have been invited by the online platform Mythology Classroom to give a presentation on eclipse-related iconography found in South Indian temples and pavilions on Sunday 27th September 2020, at 10 PM Indian Standard Time. My presentation includes the art-historical analyses of the eclipse reliefs. And an analysis of the historical and doctrinal context of their creation in the Vijayanagara, Nayaka, and Maratha period of the 16th to 17th century. My analysis shows there is a strong doctrinal connection between the astronomical symbolism and concepts of yoga, alchemy, tantra, and mythology related to amrita and immortality.
