BOOK LAUNCH! Today 27th October 2020 the biography of the 18th-century traveler in India Jacob Haafner has been launched by NUS Press of Singapore University. Originally researched and written in Dutch by Dr.Paul van der Velde and translated into English by me, Liesbeth Pankaja Bennink, this book is a window on India in the period just before it lost its independence to the British. As experienced and witnessed by Jacob Haafner, who worked and traveled on the Coromandel coast for almost 20 years. Haafner respected and admired and wrote about his time in India with love and admiration. He was especially fond of Indian dance and the dancers.
